The Lastolite HiLite backgrounds range allows the photographer to undertake ‘High Key’ photography on location and in restrictive spaces. The white background itself can be rear-lighted so there is no longer a need to use a background light behind the subject and because the background is illuminated, the subject can stand right in front of it without casting a shadow. The HiLite backgrounds also work as a large rear softbox, illuminating the subject, meaning you can use just one other flash head to light the subject from the front. The Lastolite HiLite background is collapsible so can be easily stored and transported. This larger 6' x 7' version is ideal for full length portraits and small group shots. 4 Nov 2010 - Since its introduction some years ago, the Lastolite HiLite background has been increasingly popular with portrait photographers. Sadly, I still get a lot of correspondence about the HiLite background from photographers who struggle to achieve the look that they expected. That’s why I’m putting pen to paper, not in the form of a review as such, but just to reassure you that using the HiLite need not be a struggle.
