Canon EOS 1000D - Rave Review
The Canon 1000D received a glowing review (PDF) from The News of the World’s GADGiTS team at V-Festival 2008. Canon EF-S 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 Lens
The Canon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 EF-S lens is a standard zoom lens featuring the smaller size image circle, especially designed for Canon EOS 20D, 30D, 40D upwards and other cameras using the "APS-C" size sensor. The focal length is equivalent to approx. 28-90mm in 35mm format, making it ideal as a basic everyday lens. Specifically designed for digital photography, the lens has specially shaped lens elements and Super Spectra coatings to suppress ghosting and flare, which can be caused by reflections off digital camera sensors. An exclusive optional lens hood can further reduce the incidence of flare.

Canon EOS 1000D – Harder, better, faster, stronger
Designed to offer ultimate image quality, the Canon EOS 1000D features a 10.1 megapixel sensor which provides you with low-noise images of high enough resolution to render stunning prints up to A4 in size, even after cropping. The digital SLR also features a DIGIC III processor, the same processor as that featured in Canon’s professional range of D-SLRs, which enables continuous shooting up to 3fps until the SD or SDHC card is full. If you are using a 2GB card, this means you can take 514 images without interruption. The inclusion of a DIGIC III processor means that the start up time of the EOS 1000D is almost immediate, the camera operates swiftly and smoothly and the images produced are of extremely high quality.
The EOS 1000D digital SLR camera contains a 7-point wide area Auto Focus system which is capable of fixing onto its subject in under a second, and the central focus point continues to produce outstanding results, even in low-light and at low-contrast settings.
The EOS 1000D also includes E-TTL II, Canon’s distance-linked flash exposure system found on their professional models.
Canon EOS 1000D – Clever clarity
The Canon EOS 1000D with 18-55mm DC lens (Non-IS) includes the EOS Integrated Cleaning System which fights dust in the following three ways: Reduce, Remove, Repel. Dust generated inside the camera is reduced, stubborn dust spots are mapped and removed with the provided Digital Photo Professional software, and the camera repels dust by shaking it from the sensor each time the camera is switched on or off. Thus, the Canon EOS 1000D digital SLR protects your images from the troublesome sensor dust which can potentially ruin your images.
12 custom functions, including Auto Lighting Optimiser for correcting brightness and tone during processing, mean you can select the perfect settings for your shooting situation. In addition, the Canon EOS 1000D is equipped with a function enabling additional noise reduction for when shooting at high ISO speeds.
Photographers using the Canon EOS 1000D digital SLR camera can switch to Live View, which is particularly useful when shooting using a tripod, to see their image as a 30fps live video feed on the 2.5” LCD. Additional features such as grid lines and histogram charts can be enabled to aid composition and setting selection. Live View offers two AF modes – Quick AF, which flips the camera’s mirror to engage the AF sensor, and Live AF, which uses contrast information for compact camera-style focusing.
Canon EOS 1000D – Superb Software
Included in the box with the Canon EOS 1000D digital SLR camera, is Digital Photo Professional (DPP), a powerful RAW converter that enables you to have complete control over processing your RAW images, and also works in close association with camera features such as Dust Delete Data and Picture Styles. Also included is Picture Style Editor software which enables you to create custom Picture Styles for fine control over colour display. The Canon EOS 1000D also comes with EOS Utility, Image/Zoom Browser and Photostitch.
