The B+W 77mm 3.0/1000x (110) Neutral Density Filter has a light intensity reduction of ten f-stops, meaning that a 1/60 second exposure becomes a 15 second exposure with the filter in place. Because of its higher transmission in the red beyond 660 nm, this filter brings a warm tone to colour photographs. Its principal field of application is the observation and documentation of industrial processes with extreme brightness, such as steel furnaces, incinerators, glowing filaments in halogen- and other bulbs. However, many photographers use its effect to create artistic long exposure photographs of all kinds of subjects.
