SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass

Sigma use SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass in this lens for excellent correction of chromatic aberration (colour fringing). This also corrects for fluctuation of aberration due to focusing. The new multi layer lens coating reduces flare and ghosting, a common problem with digital cameras and also creates an optimum colour balance.

Macro shooting with maximum magnification 1:2

The minimum focusing distance is 1.5 m/59 inches at all zoom settings between 200-300mm. It also has a switch for changeover to macro photography at focal lengths between 200mm and 300mm with a maximum close-up magnification from 1:2.9 to 1:2. This means that without changing the distance between camera and subject it is possible to change the shooting magnification.

Comments about Sigma 70-300mm f4-5.6 DL Macro Super DG - Sigma Fit:

I bought one of these lenses to increase the range of pictures I can take, I only had a standard lens that came with my sony alpha.
The lens is well made, and I had no problems fixing it to my camera, the auto focus worked as soon as I turned the camera on, although it is a touch slower than the other lens I have.
I have been able to take some great pictures with this lens, mainly of wildlife, before I had trouble as I would have to get closer than the animal/bird would allow, this lens has solved that.
The only down side I have found with the lens is that I have a little trouble holding it still, so a tripod is a good idea, but if you can support the lens, by leaning on something or with a tripod then it does take some great pictures.
I have also been able to take some good shots of the moon, great detail to the end images, you can see the craters and such like very clearly.
